Having severe migraines in early pregnancy?

What can be done when migraines come back with pregnancy?

Answer:

Having headaches is completely normal. However, when you start to suffer with migraines in early pregnancy you should consult your doctor as he/she can prescribe some medication that is safe to use.

Here are a few things you can do to reduce migraines in general though. Cut down on your milk, chocolate, coffee and cheese intake. These foods can all cause you to have migraines.

It is generally a good idea to stay away from eggs and processed cheese during pregnancy anyway as these can cause other problems such as preeclampsia.  This is a kidney problem, unfortunately there is very little they can do to relieve you of pain for kidneys. Doctors will generally only prescribe paracetomal and tell you to drink lots of fluids.

With migraines you would need to sleep in a dark room and steer clear of bright lights as this is also a major cause for migraines. All you can really do is to be sensible, drink lots of water, stay away from bright light or even flickering light and don't touch the chocolate, cheese and coffee. There are several other food types that can also do this, just try to eat things that you know are not going to affect you that badly.

During pregnancy, allergies seem to be more pronounced, so be extra safe, think about what would normally affect you.
