Summer in the UK, how should we protect our babies?
Summer has hit the UK and it is starting to warm up pretty quickly now. Here are a few hints on making sure that your baby is kept safe against heat and the sun itself.
- If you have a very young baby, even though you may just be giving him or her milk. A drop of water in a bottle inbetween meals will help to keep your baby hydrated.
- Always try to keep your baby in the shade, so having a pasola or hood or cap for your baby will be helpful. Babies’ skin is very sensitive and will burn very quickly. The sun on baby can give him or her sunstroke. Not a very nice ailment to have. Your baby will be sick and lethargic. Try to remember how sunstroke would make you feel as an adult.
- Keeping baby cool at all times is a good idea. If your baby is getting too hot, then he or she will need a splash in the bath or in a paddling pool. Although, the pool is not recommended for very young babies.
- Lots of fluids during the day is a necessity. Avoid juices that are already made up in bottles, try and give your child a weak squash. That will help to keep the water in the childs body.
- Having very little bedding on the baby’s bed is also possibly a good solution to keeping your child cool. Just remember that babies like to have a cover of some sort over them to make them feel safe. So keep that it mind too.
As I think of more hints, I will add them to the blog. If you have any hints yourself, please make a comment and I will add it to a blog with some more helpful hints.
